High Performance Collaboration: Leadership, Teamwork, and Negotiation is an online course offered by the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. The class is a beginner’s level course intended for anyone who is in a position that involves leading teams, collaborating with coworkers and negotiating. Students can take the course on its own or as the first step toward the Organizational Leadership Specialization certificate offered by the university.
Sessions of High Performance Collaboration: Leadership, Teamwork, and Negotiation begin every other week on a rolling basis throughout the year. The class is taught in English and lasts for 3 weeks. Coursework is presented in an online format with video recordings of lectures. Supplemental readings are given to deepen students’ knowledge of the information covered. There is also a social component with students interacting with one another via online message boards. Quizzes and grading assignments are given to evaluate students’ mastery of the course material. Those who receive passing grades on all assignments will pass the course.
During the first week of High Performance Collaboration: Leadership, Teamwork, and Negotiation, students learn the basics of leadership skills. The module deals with how to develop one’s own leadership potential and how to foster leadership ability in others. During the second module, Teamwork, students learn how to put together and lead a team to successfully complete a project or task. The final week focuses on Negotiation and helps students master the art of making concessions and reaching agreements in small and large business settings.
