Studying at the Istanbul Center of International Law’s Law of the Sea Summer School is a course that runs from June 17 to June 23, 2017. It aims to help students understand the laws of the ocean that regulate the activities of the States alongside their interactions when it comes to maritime matters. This course will give an overview of the development and introductions of the Law of the Sea alongside the 1982 Law of Sea Convention held by the United Nations.
It will cover several oceanic uses such as shipping, deep seabed mining, shipping and navigation alongside the protection of the sea itself. This school will offer discussions on disputes regarding sea law like the Aegean Sea Conflict that has gone on between Turkey and Greece along with Project of Canal Istanbul. Criminal activities such as piracy and human trafficking will also be discussed.
